ASSISTANT TEACHER

The Assistant Teacher provides support to the classroom Head teacher. They will perform duties that are instructional in nature. The Assistant Teacher will serve in a position that supports the Head Teacher, students, or other positions at our center. The Head Teacher has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs supported by the Assistant Teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor

  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced changing environment

  • Teachable spirit

  • Well-organized

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience working in a low income environment preferred

  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR preferred

  • Experience working with impoverished populations preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a safe environment for children at all times

  • Build rapport with each individual child, make every child feel welcome in our program

  • Interact with children in a respectful and friendly manner

  • Assist the Head Teacher in instructing the children, provide support to the Head Teacher as they carry out lessons

  • Handle discipline and guidance in a trauma responsive manner

  • Observe student behavior and performance, and report identified needs to the Program Manger

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures as outlined in the policy handbook

LEARNING CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION: 2:15-5:45pm MONDAY-FRIDAY

  • Assistant Teacher must be able to commit to a minimum of two consistent days per week but may work up to five days

  • Compensation: $13-$15 per hour
